THS PRINCIPAL’S WELCOME

It is with great pride that I welcome you to Thompson High School! THS is a 7-12 school that is home to over 270 students who are educated by 24 highly qualified instructors. THS is connected to Thompson Elementary School and together we have a K-12 enrollment of over 650 students. Thompson, ND is a bedroom community 7 miles south of Grand Forks that has a population of approximately 1000.

The goal of our staff is to develop life-long learners who, through the course of high school, will develop the academic, social, and workplace skills necessary to compete in the 21st century global economy.

Academic course offerings at THS range from the required courses in English, Math, Science, and Social Studies, to elective departments such as Business, Family & Consumer Science, Health Careers and Technology & Engineering Education. THS is also a member of the Grand Forks Area Career and Technical Center which provides our students the opportunity to take courses such as Programming Essentials, Computer Hardware and Operating Systems, and Intro to Graphic Arts. Qualified students are also able to take dual credit courses (Advanced Composition, College Algebra, Psychology, Sociology, and Speech) allowing them to earn college credit. We are excited about the opportunities we provide our students and are always striving to improve.

Extra-curricular activities offered at THS include: Football, Volleyball, Cross-Country, Basketball, Wrestling, Swimming & Diving, Gymnastics, Track, Baseball, Softball, Hockey, Trap Shooting, and Golf. Fine arts activities include Band, Choir, Drama, Jazz Band, Pep Band, Summer Theatre, and Speech. THS also offers various clubs to our students which include: FCCLA, FBLA, SADD, TSA, Math Counts, Academic Challenge, JETS, NHS, Student Council, and Yearbook.

I am currently in my 29th year in education and 20th as a high school principal.  My wife, Collette, and I have four children; Calen - 24, Cadyn - 22, Sydney - 17, Jena - 15
